Laugh hard it's a long way to the bank

I just got this album out from the back of my iPod, man what a great freakin' album, you should probably buy it if you don't have it. Or ask me and I'll send you some songs.

UPDATE: I realized I forgot to mention I am talking about ex-local rockers Modest Mouse- The Moon & Antarctica, I just like the line I used as the post title.

Me please.

One of my all time faves too. The title you used is my signatture line in a community I use a lot...

Great MM album, but "laugh hard, it's a long way to the bank," is -- as everyone should know -- from "Rhythm Section Want Ad" by They Might Be Giants (1987).

Hats off to the new age hairstyle made of bones
Hats off to the use of hats as megaphones
Speak softly, drive a Sherman tank
Laugh hard, it's a long way to the bank

Modest Mouse just have good taste.

I did not know that, I have never given TMBG the listening to that they probably deserve.

I'm a little behind in my reading of The useful arts as I just discovered you from my logs. I whole-heartedly support your lauding of TM&A. Excellent album.

I was just researching this because I know Modest Mouse uses some Pixies lines and was wondering if they did get this from that TMBG song, 'cause Modest Mouse and TMBG are by far my favorite bands. MM also uses a very similar picture of an octopus that was on TMBG's Apollo 18 on one of their t-shirts, coincidence??? But yeah, all the MM albums are amazing, if you don't have it, I'd highly recommend Lonesome Crowded West.

rhythm section want ad- tmbg
they did steal some lyrics, though they're great nonetheless
i'm glad people share in good taste.
peace

Did you know that "Laugh hard, it's a long way to the bank," which you attributed to Modest Mouse, is actually a They Might Be Giants lyric ("Rhythm Section Want Ad" from 1986) that Modest Mouse um... shall we say "borrowed" from TMBG. Just a bit of trivia for ya.
